Vol. 471 No. 5

Written Answers. - Roundstone (Galway) Waste Sources.

Noel Dempsey

Ceist:

129 Mr. Dempsey asked the Minister for the Environment if he will instruct Galway County Council to release all information in its possession on the Roundstone water sources; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21220/96]

I have no power to review decisions of public authorities under the access to information on the environment regulations. A person who considers that a request for information has been unreasonably refused or inadequately answered by a local authority may seek a judicial review or submit the case to the Ombudsman.

The monitoring by sanitary authorities of drinking water supplies, including the Roundstone supply, is reported on by the Environmental Protection Agency in their annual reports on drinking water quality, copies of which are available in the Oireachtas Library. The most recent report was in respect of 1994 and that for 1995 is due to be published shortly.
