124 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for the Environment if the reports that have been commissioned on the operation of the urban renewal scheme under section 23 of the Finance Act, 1981, and section 27 of the Finance Act, 1987, are completed; the terms of reference for such reports; and if such findings or reports will be published. I propose to take Questions Nos. 29 and 124 together.
The consultants' report on the impact of the urban renewal schemes as they have operated to date will be completed shortly. In preparing the report, the consultants were asked to consider the impact of the schemes in fiscal-economic, social and architectural-urban design terms, and to make recommendations in relation to the future direction of urban renewal policy. It is the intention that the report will be published as soon as possible after it has been received and examined in my Department and in the Department of Finance.
