Vol. 471 No. 5

Written Answers. - Urban Renewal Scheme.

Noel Dempsey

Ceist:

90 Mr. Dempsey asked the Minister for Finance if he intends to extend the time limits in relation to the urban renewal designations in Navan, County Meath; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21367/96]

The present urban renewal scheme came into being in August 1994 for a three year period and therefore is not due to terminate until 31 July 1997. A comprehensive review of the entire urban renewal scheme is taking place at present in the context of which a team of independent consultants is evaluating the experiences of the last ten years. The consultants' report will be completed very shortly and their findings will feed into an overall review of the urban renewal scheme.

The question of any extension will not arise until the study is completed.
