Vol. 471 No. 7

Written Answers. - Disability Pension.

John O'Leary

Ceist:

194 Mr. O'Leary asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht if he will award a disability pension to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry who is in receipt of an invalidity pension from the Department of Social Welfare following an injury he received while working with the Office of Public Works in Ross Castle, Killarney, and having regard to representations made to him by Deputy O'Leary. [21855/96]

There are provisions under the pension scheme for State industrial employees for payment of preserved pension to former employees on grounds of ill-health before normal retiring age. However, the person concerned has not made any claim for pension under this provision.

My Department will contact the person directly, and if it can be established that he has entitlements under the scheme, these entitlements will be paid in full.
