Vol. 471 No. 7

Written Answers. - Performance-Related Bonuses.

Tony Killeen

Ceist:

400 Mr. Killeen asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry whether he has approved performance-related bonuses for chief executives and other officers of semi-State bodies under the aegis of his Department. [21701/96]

Under the report of the Review Body on Higher Remuneration in the Public Sector, it is a matter for the relevant board of the state sponsored body to approve the level of any performance related bonus.

Boards wishing to implement a performance related bonus scheme for their chief executive must specify the performance parameters, targets and weightings and these should be agreed with the relevant Minister. Once these parameters have been agreed by the parties concerned, the report indicates that there is no need for the sponsoring Departments to be involved in the process of performance appraisal and computation of bonus.
