Vol. 471 No. 7

Written Answers. - Day Care Centre Funding.

Joe Walsh

Ceist:

154 Mr. J. Walsh asked the Minister for Health the exact amount of funding provided in 1996 by his Department in respect of a day-care centre on the site of Bandon District Hospital, County Cork. [22254/96]

Limerick East): On 18 June 1996 I allocated the sum of £200,000 to the Southern Health Board for three day care centres in Fermoy, Bandon and Midleton.

As the project in Fermoy was at an advanced stage of development, £106,000 of the above sum was apportioned by the board for Fermoy. Of the remaining £94,000, the board allocated £44,000 towards the development of a day care centre in Bandon.

The board inform me, however, that as the project in Bandon is at a very early stage in the planning process, very little expenditure will arise in 1996 and the money allocated this year will not be spent until next year.
