Vol. 471 No. 8

Written Answers. - Rathcairn (Meath) School.

Noel Dempsey

Ceist:

83 Mr. Dempsey asked the Minister for Education if Pobalscoil Rathcairn, County Meath, will be included in the building programme for 1997. [22326/96]

Approval was granted for the provision of a new 1,300 square metres all-Irish school for Rathcairn, County Meath. A 6.78 acre site has been identified as the most suitable site for the proposed new school. The site has been examined by my Department's post primary building unit's technical staff, and has been found acceptable for development.

County Meath Vocational Education Committee has been instructed to make the necessary arrangements for the purchase of this site. When the site purchase is complete, the architectural planning process will commence and a design team briefing meeting will be arranged to initiate architectural planning.

The question of providing capital funds for building will not arise until the planning process has been fully completed. However, every effort will be made to have the planning of the proposed new school completed as quickly as possible.
