Vol. 472 No. 1

Written Answers. - Internet Tourism Site.

Liz O'Donnell

Ceist:

56 Ms O'Donnell asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade the reason for the delay in launching an Internet site to promote Ireland as a tourist destination; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22055/96]

Desmond J. O'Malley

Ceist:

72 Mr. O'Malley asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade the reason for the delay in launching and Internet site to promote Ireland as a tourist destination; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22054/96]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 56 and 72 together.

I understand that Bord Fáilte, which has responsibility for the site, decided to delay the implementation of its full Internet site until after the launch of "Tourism Brand Ireland" which took place on 11 November 1996. This was to ensure that the Internet site reflected the new approach to marketing and included the new Brand advertising and logo. The site is scheduled to be launched at the end of this month.
