160 Mr. Molloy asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications whether the recent study conducted by An Bord Gáis confirmed the feasibility or otherwise of extending the national gas pipeline from Limerick to Galway; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23516/96]

At my request Bord Gáis has carried out a detailed investigation of the possibility of a major extension of the natural gas network to a number of areas, including Galway. The board have recently furnished a detailed report in that regard. I am currently considering the board's report on the study.
