40 Mr. J. Walsh asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will publish the consultants report (details supplied) on the cost of providing a State-organised veterinary inspection service in meat plants; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22451/96]
The report in question was commissioned by my Department in the context of the settlement of legal proceedings taken by the beef industry against my Department over the collection of meat inspection fees. A further dispute has now arisen between my Department and the beef industry in relation to this issue and discussions are taking place. I intend to publish the report when this dispute is resolved.
