14 Miss Harney asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications if it is proposed to amend the Minerals Development Act, 1979, to provide that the person entitled to compensation under section 20 of the Act is the owner of the mineral rights at the time of their development; and if he will make a statement on the matter.[23490/96]
I am favourably disposed to amending section 20 of the Minerals Development Act, 1979, to provide that any conveyance or transfer of any estate or interest in minerals from a future date will also transfer with it the right to compensation for the working of those minerals under that Act. I propose to bring forward the necessary amending legislation in due course.
