83 Ms O'Donnell asked the Minister for Health the names of the doctors elected to the Irish Medical Council in the last elections; the current secretary of the council; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24128/96]
Limerick East): The Medical Practitioners Act, 1978, provides that ten fully registered medical practitioners engaged in the practice of medicine in the State shall be elected to the council, of whom at least:
Two are consultants in general hospitals
not being consultant psychiatrists — Dr. J. Clinch, Mr. W.H. Beasley.
One is a consultant psychiatrist — Professor P. Casey
One is engaged in community medicine — Dr. A.R. O'Connor
One is engaged in hospital practice, other than a consultant — Dr. C. Daly
Two are general practitioners — Dr. D. Scally, Professor G. Bury
and the other three are fully registered medical practitioners — Dr. L.M. Fullam, Dr. P. Keogh, Professor T.M. O'Brien.
The council does not have a secretary. The chief administrative officer of the council, who has the title of Registrar, is Mr. Brian V. Lea.
