Vol. 472 No. 8

Written Answers. - Hospital Waiting Lists.

Mary O'Rourke

Ceist:

73 Mrs. O'Rourke asked the Minister for Health if he will request the relevant health board to arrange an operation for a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath. [24253/96]

Limerick East): In all cases, appointments for medical treatment are allocated on the basis of medical priority. I am advised that the person concerned has been placed on an outpatient orthopaedic waiting list for assessment. The hospital is not in a position, at this time, to give an exact date for assessment. If the person concerned feels that his condition has deteriorated or warrants more urgent attention then he should contact his general practitioner who would be in the best position to take up the matter with the consultant concerned.
