Written Answers. - Renewable Energy Projects.
Capital allowances at normal rates are available for allowable capital expenditure in renewable energy projects such as wind energy development.
In my 1996 budget speech I directed my Department, in conjunction with other Departments and relevant agencies, to examine the strategic impact of taxation on environmental policy and to bring forward specific tax measures for the 1997 budget which have due regard to competitiveness considerations.
This environmental taxation group is considering a range of environmental tax and incentive options and will produce a report on these alternatives in advance of the budget.
