Ceist:467 Mr. Davern asked the Minister for Social Welfare the total cost to his Department of the Presidency of the EU; and if he will give details of such costs. [1248/97]
Written Answers. - EU Presidency.
As indicated in my reply to Question No. 200 of 19 December 1996, the budget allocation to my Department for the EU Presidency was £300,000. Costs of approximately £247,000 were incurred by the end of 1996. Further expenditure in respect of the Presidency will be incurred during 1997 but, as indicated in my December reply, it is anticipated that final spending will be within the original budget.
