140 Mr. N. Treacy asked the Minister for Justice the reason a project (details supplied) in County Galway has not been sanctioned; the date on which this will be done; the amount of money being allocated in this regard; when the project will commence; and if she will make a statement on the matter. I understand that painting of the premises in question was sanctioned in 1995 but was not proceeded with as it was ascertained that certain repairs and refurbishment would first be needed.
The Office of Public works have since reported on the structural works needed at the premises. The Garda housing officer intends to visit the premises shortly to assess the position after which a decision will be made on the action which should be taken.
