181 Mr. Hughes asked the Minister for Education the action, if any, she proposes to take to avert the strike at Fahy national school, Westport, County Mayo, on 11 February 1997, as the school is on the substandard INTO list, has outside toilets and the school building is subject to infestation; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [2016/97]
The current position is that funding for the works requested at Fahy national school must be examined in the light of existing contractual commitments for 1997, and the funding to be made available this year. These matters are under consideration at present and I expect that the process will be completed shortly. My Department will be in contact with the school management as soon as these matters have been finalised.
