Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Browne (Wexford)— the deplorable condition of St. Aidan's primary school, Enniscorthy, County Wexford and the refusal of the Department of Education to honour a promise to upgrade the school following the amalgamation of two schools in Enniscorthy, County Wexford; (2) Deputy Costello — the need to provide statutory protection for listed buildings; (3) Deputy Gallagher (Laoighis-Offaly)— the urgent need to provide a new Garda station for Tullamore, County Offaly, in view of the risk to the health and safety of the Garda Síochána and the public arising from the condition of the existing station; (4) Deputy Ring — the need to instruct the Western Health Board to appoint a dentist for the Belmullet area, County Mayo, either in a temporary or permanent capacity, in view of the delays in providing dental treatment for young people in the area; (5) Deputy Sargent — the need to reconsider the approach being adopted to the waste management crisis in view of the fact that a year has elapsed since IBEC established the organisation Repak; (6) Deputy Leonard — the urgent need to approve an alternative energy proposal for the disposal of agricultural waste in County Monaghan; (7) Deputy O'Donoghue — the consequences for drift-net fishermen and their families in south Kerry arising out of the decision by the Minister for the Marine to delay the opening of the draft-net salmon fishing season to 15 May 1997; (8) Deputy Broughan — the need to reexamine the regulations and guidelines on the erection of microwave antennae; (9) Deputies Andrews and McDaid — the need to call on the British Government to initiate a new investigation into the shooting of 14 people in Derry on 31 January 1972; (10) Deputy Seán Ryan — the need to address the obnoxious smell emanating from the Loughshinny Shore Station, North County Dublin which is having an effect on the residents, and on the children of Loughshinny and parts of Rush, County Dublin; (11) Deputy Shortall — the urgent need to approve Dublin Corporation plans for the redevelopment of the Ballymun Estate, Dublin; (12) Deputy Martin — the need to give details regarding the establishment of an expert group to determine the criteria by which a regional technical college will be upgraded to the status of institute of technology and to outline the legislative framework which will govern such a process; (13) Deputy Michael Kitt — the murder of the Irish Franciscan Brother, Larry Timmons, in Kenya, and the threat to the religious and aid workers in that region.

The matters raised by Deputies Michael Kitt, Sargent, Leonard and O'Donoghue have been selected for discussion.
