111 Miss Coughlan asked the Minister for Social Welfare the agreement, if any, he has made with the Department of Finance with regard to the closure of local employment exchanges; his policy on the long-term continuation of these offices; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3946/97]
I am assuming for the purposes of this reply that the Deputy is referring to social welfare branch offices and not to what were formally known as employment exchanges and are now social welfare local offices.
I refer the Deputy to my reply to Questions Nos. 33 and 88 on Wednesday, 27 November 1996 and Question No. 464 on Wednesday, 22 January 1997. The position as outlined on those occasions is unchanged.
