102 Mr. Kirk asked the Minister for Finance the current position in relation to the increase in capital allowances for farm pollution control; the operative date of such increases; the range of pollution control measures eligible; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4266/97]
In my budget speech, I announced the introduction of a special year 1 allowance of 50 per cent of expenditure incurred on necessary pollution control measures up to an expenditure limit of £20,000. The scheme will apply for three years, starting on 6 April 1997. Full details, including qualifying expenditure, will be set out in the Finance Bill.
