Vol. 475 No. 1

Written Answers. - Ambulance Service.

Noel Davern

Ceist:

126 Mr. Davern asked the Minister for Health the proposals, if any, there are under consideration in relation to the privatisation or contracting out of the ambulance service from regional areas to Dublin hospitals; if so, if he will give details of these proposals; when they will be implemented; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4203/97]

Limerick East): Arrangements for the provision of ambulance services are a matter for the health boards in the first instance. I am not aware of any proposals in relation to the privatisation or contracting of the ambulance service from regional areas to Dublin hospitals. Any queries the Deputy might have concerning the situation in a given health board area should be addressed to the chief executive officer of the appropriate health board.
