Ceist:107 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for the Environment if he will give grant aid to private house owners in an area (details supplied) in Dublin 1 where public housing has been acquired and refurbished. [5620/97]

I have no funds at my disposal from which grants might be given for improvements to private housing. It is, however, open to Dublin Corporation to consider the possible use of the scheme of improvement works in lieu of local authority housing where this would be appropriate.
