Dublin Corporation has made proposals for a programme of works to upgrade elements of its housing stock, including window replacement. There are no funds at my disposal from which assistance could be provided for the works in question. The management, maintenance and improvement of existing dwellings is the responsibility of the local authority, to be financed from its own resources. However, where funding is made available, under the remedial works scheme, to assist authorities in carrying out major structural works to designated housing estates, the installation of replacement windows may be included as part of such works.
