49 Mr. N. Treacy asked the Minister for Finance if he will sanction an allocation for projects (details supplied) in County Galway; the date on which this will be done; the amount to be allocated for each project; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7121/97]
The areas in question mentioned by the Deputy form part of the area being investigated by the multi-disciplined team of consultants into the causes of flooding in south Galway. Pending the completion of that study and receipt and consideration of the consultant's report which is expected in August this year it is not possible to give any indications as to what works might be undertaken arising from the report's recommendations. It is envisaged that any works to be carried out will form part of a cohesive programme for the overall south Galway area which will have regard to the impacts of those works elsewhere in the area, which is of great environmental importance.
