Ceist:

151 Mr. Nealon asked the Minister for Defence the number of civil servants, by grade, employed in his own office, including his constituency office, and in the offices of his Minister (s) of State; and the number and titles of any non-civil servants in each of these offices. [7270/97]

There are four Civil Service staff and four contract staff attached to my ministerial offices as follows:

Civil Service Staff	Contract Staff
Higher Executive Officer	Programme Manager
Staff Officer	Special Adviser
Clerical Officer	Personal Secretary
Clerical Assistant	Personal Adviser

The contract staff salary costs are shared jointly between Defence and Marine Votes reflecting my dual ministerial role.

There are three civil service staff attached to the Office of the Minister of State as follows:

higher executive officer

clerical officer

clerical assistant

There are no contract staff employed by the Minister of State.
