Limerick East): I signed the commencement order for Parts VII and VIII of the Child Care Act, 1991 on Wednesday, 18 December 1996. Regulations under Parts VII and VIII came into effect from the 31 December 1996. In line with my commitment in this regard, the Child Care Act was thus fully implemented by the end of 1996.
