72 Mr. B. Ahern asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs the EU funding received by his Department in 1996; the funding which he expects to receive in 1997; and the relevant funds and budget lines under which such funding is received. [8024/97]
My Department has responsibility for the implementation of a number of cross-Border measures under the EU Special Support Programme for Peace and Reconciliation in Northern Ireland and the Border counties. My Department does not, however, receive any funding directly from the European Union. The EU component in the payments made by my Department under the peace programme is sourced in EU structural and social funds. These funds are received from the European Union by the Departments of Finance and Enterprise and Employment and the responsible Ministers will provide the information required in their replies.
