Vol. 477 No. 2

Written Answers - State Board Appointments.

John Ellis

Ceist:

47 Mr. Ellis asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs the number of people from each county on State boards which fall within the remit of his Department. [8888/97]

The information required by the Deputy is not available as it is not the practice of either the Department of Foreign Affairs or the Office of the Tánaiste to maintain information on the county of origin of those people on State boards under their aegis.

The experience, expertise and background of people are, in general, the main considerations taken into account when appointments to State boards-agencies are made. In addition, appointments must also conform with Government policy on the gender balance of State boards.
