Kitt asked the Minister for the Environment the proposals, if any, he has received from Galway County Council regarding a sewerage scheme (details supplied) in County Galway particularly in view of the foul odours in the village and the effect on drinking water quality; and if he will make a statement on the matter. A preliminary report for Kilconnell sewerage scheme is with my Department at present but, having regard to existing level of commitments under the water and sewerage programme, I cannot say when it may be possible to approve it.

Smith asked the Minister for the Environment the funding, if any, which will be provided under the INTERREG 2 small schemes programme towards the upgrading of the Mullagh water supply scheme, County Cavan; the level of funding to be provided; when approval will issue; the scheme or work to be undertaken; and if he will make a statement on the matter. A grant of £56,250 has been allocated to Cavan County Council in respect of improvement works on the Mullagh public water supply scheme under the INTERREG 2 sub-programme for small water and sewerage schemes. I understand that work on the scheme will commence shortly.
