Written Answers. - Schools Building Project.

Liam Aylward

Ceist:

131 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Education the reason for the delay in having payment made in respect of the first phase of Ballyhale vocational school, County Kilkenny, on accounts (details supplied) which were submitted in 1995. [10473/97]

A number of queries have arisen in relation to the final account for the first phase extension to Ballyhale vocational school, County Kilkenny. These queries must be satisfactorily addressed before the final account can be agreed by the Department.

A response is currently awaited from County Kilkenny Vocational Education Committee in this regard.

Ceist:

132 Mr. O'Dea asked the Minister for Education the current position regarding an application for a second level school at Castletroy, County Limerick; and when a decision will be made on this matter. [10474/97]

A detailed examination of the application for the provision of a post-primary school in Castletroy-Monaleen area of Limerick city has been undertaken by my Department. The present position is that the examination is completed and a submission is being prepared for my consideration.

As soon as the submission is available, I will be in a position to consider the matter.

Ceist:

133 Mr. O'Dea asked the Minister for Education the current position regarding the provision of extra classrooms at St. Nessan's national school, Mungret, County Limerick; if her attention has been drawn to the urgency of this matter; and the plans, if any, she has to expedite the process.[10475/97]

I am aware of the urgency of providing additional accommodation at St. Nessan's national school, Mungret, County Limerick. An architect from my Department visited the school on 21 March last and carried out a detailed survey of the school site. Design drawings are currently in preparaton and it is anticipated that a sketch scheme will issue to the school management shortly for their approval. The scheme will then have to be submitted for planning permission.

When all the design work is completed, a decision on the timing of the tender and contract processes will be taken in the light of available funding.
