Vol. 478 No. 3

Written Answers. - Hospital Waste.

Batt O'Keeffe

Ceist:

48 Mr. B. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Health if the stockpiling of waste at a south Dublin industrial estate is still continuing. [11123/97]

Limerick East): I understand that a company called Irish Environmental Services is exporting healthcare risk waste from a number of hospitals, for disposal in Britain. The company is operating under conditions laid down by South Dublin County Council, and the position is that a number of containers of waste were held up, pending receipt from the UK of the necessary transfrontier shipment documentation. I understand the containers were shipped immediately on receipt of this documentation at the end of March.
