Vol. 478 No. 3

Written Answers. - Special Education Needs.

Ivor Callely

Ceist:

68 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Education further to Parliamentary Questions Nos. 105 and 106 of 17 April 1996 by Deputy Callely, the people with a disability or learning difficulty who are being denied their educational rights; the cases where difficulties have arisen in relation to the suitability of services available to such people; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [10988/97]

I assume that the Deputy is referring to parliamentary questions which I answered on 17 April 1997.

As indicated on that occasion, the issues raised related to individual children and the circumstances surrounding their needs. I do not consider that it would be appropriate for me to comment in detail on such individual cases.

However, if the Deputy has a particular case in mind, my Department will make every effort to be of assistance.
