Vol. 479 No. 3

Adjournment Debate Matters.

An Leas-Cheann Comhairle

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Batt O'Keeffe — the urgent need to provide a permanent structure attached to a school (details supplied) in County Cork; (2) Deputy Lynch — the urgent need to ensure that all public buildings are made fully accessible to people with disabilities; (3) Deputy Ring — the protection to be given to local fishermen in Porturlin, Ballina, County Mayo, to prevent large Irish trawlers from entering their 12 mile fishing zone and damaging their crab pots; (4) Deputy Eric Byrne — the urgent need to provide adequate accommodation and support facilities for Eastern Health Board workers providing services for refugees; (5) Deputy Ned O'Keeffe — the reason for the recent visit of facilitators to Mallow, County Cork, to examine primary schools and if the purpose of the visit was to devise a rationalisation programme; (6) Deputy Michael Ahern — the failure of the Government to deal with the public safety and crowd control issues arising from the tragic events which took place in the Point Depot on Saturday, 11 May 1996 and the failure to take further action following the coroner's report in this matter.

The matters raised by Deputies Michael Ahern, Batt O'Keeffe, Ned O'Keeffe and Ring have been selected for discussion.
