Vol. 480 No. 2

Written Answers. - Medical Appeal.

Breeda Moynihan-Cronin

Ceist:

151 Mrs. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Finance the reason a child (details supplied) in County Kerry has to travel to Dublin for a medical appeal in relation to disabled driver's tax concessions when she could be facilitated in Cork. [13695/97]

The Disabled Drivers Medical Board of Appeal, which serves the whole country, generally meets in Dublin. As you will appreciate, it can only justify the expense of meeting in another location if the number of appeals in that particular area is sufficiently large.

The board has met in Cork in the past, and plans to do so again before the end of this year. If so requested by the parents, the board will consider giving the child in question an appointment for an assessment when it next meets in Cork.
