164 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Health when a health promotions officer for breast feeding promotion will be appointed to the Eastern Health Board; the reason the Eastern Health Board is the only health board without such an officer; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13483/97]
My Department has recently sanctioned funding for the creation of a health promotion officer post in the Eastern Health Board. The duties of the officer, when appointed, will include the promotion of breast feeding and the implementation of the national breast feeding policy within the Eastern Health Board area. I understand that the Eastern Health Board has advertised the post, and that it will be filled as soon as possible.
