Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Kenneally — the need to secure additional jobs in Waterford following the collapse of the company Bell Lines Ltd.; (2) Deputy Shatter — the need to establish a formal inquiry into the use of orphan children in residential institutions as guinea pigs to test the 3 in 1 inoculation in the early 1970s; (3) Deputy Enright — the need to rescind the decision to sack three members (details supplied) of the Midland Health Board; (4) Deputy McManus — the recent newspaper reports suggesting that more children had been damaged by the 3 in 1 vaccine than had previously been admitted and that trials were carried out on a number of babies in orphanages in the 1960s and 1970s; (5) Deputy Theresa Ahearn — the stress and inconvenience caused to the people living adjacent to Cappa level crossing in Bansha, County Tipperary, where Iarnród Éireann closes the gates from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. forcing residents to take a 5 mile detour; (6) Deputy Durkan — the assessment of means of £30 per week against a person (details supplied) in County Kildare and the way in which means are derived; (7) Deputy Ring — the need to approve the £1.2 million required for the extension of the regional water supply scheme to include the Lurgacloy and Barnagh areas of County Mayo as the families in that area have no running water; (8) Deputy Deasy — the measures being taken to maintain the container traffic formerly operated by the Bell Lines Company at the Belview Terminal in Waterford Port; (9) Deputy Higgins (Mayo)— the measures being taken to avert the closure of the Asahi Plant at Killala, County Mayo, in order to avoid the consequences of the possible loss of 315 jobs; (10) Deputy Kenny — the measures being taken, including support for management buyout, to ensure the continuation of the Asahi plant at Killala, County Mayo in view of the importance of the plant to the North Mayo region; (11) Deputy Fitzgerald — the need to outline the information available on vaccination trials carried out on children in care; (12) Deputy Broughan — the urgent need to provide facilities for passengers with disabilities and for parents of young children in the current refurbishment of Dublin's DART stations.

The matters raised by Deputies Deasy, Broughan, Shatter and Enright have been selected for discussion.
