241 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for the Environment if he will review the conditions governing eligibility for the grant scheme for a water supply; and if he will allow the owners of new houses to receive this grant. [13872/97]
The objective of the grant scheme for individual water supplies is to bring about an improvement in supplies of water to existing houses which have either no piped supply or a seriously deficient individual supply. The conditions which apply to the scheme, including the condition which confines eligibility for grants to houses over ten years old, are designed to ensure that this objective is met in a well targeted way and cost effective manner.
There are no proposals at this stage to review the terms of the scheme.
