Vol. 480 No. 2

Written Answers. - Road Traffic Accidents.

Derek McDowell

Ceist:

304 Mr. McDowell asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will have investigations made into the circumstances of a fatal road traffic accident at a location (details supplied) in Dublin 9 on 8 February 1997; and the reason the gardaí failed to respond to 11 999 calls in relation to the accident. [13874/97]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the gardaí arrived at the accident scene at 1.30 a.m. following reports that there had been an accident at the scene at about 1.10 a.m./1.15 a.m.

The gardaí are not yet in a position to state the number of 999 calls recorded in relation to the accident. Records are being checked and as soon as the information becomes available I will write to the Deputy.
