Vol. 480 No. 2

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

John V. Farrelly

Ceist:

343 Mr. Farrelly asked the Minister for Education when work will commence on the new secondary community school in Trim, County Meath; if it is intended for work to commence before September 1997; when the school will be ready for occupation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13923/97]

Interviews for the design team to undertake the architectural planning for the new community school in Trim took place in the building unit of my Department last week and arrangements for the awarding of the commission are now being finalised. When the appointment has been made, architectural planning will commence immediately. In view of the timescale involved, it is not feasible to begin construction work this year. At this early stage, I am not in a position to indicate when the school will be ready for occupation.
