Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Creed

Ceist:

130 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a person (details supplied) in County Cork will be paid his tuberculosis reactor grant. [13891/97]

Investigations are ongoing in respect of the herd in question. Payment of reactor grants to the person named will receive consideration on completion of these investigations.

Paul Bradford

Ceist:

131 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a person (details supplied) in County Cork will receive payment of his ten and 22 month beef premia. [13894/97]

The person named applied for five animals under the June 1996 ten month special beef premium scheme. Following validation of the details supplied on his application one tag showed as incorrect and despite four letters from my Department to the herdowner the matter remained unresolved. The application was processed for payment on the basis of four eligible animals and an 80 per cent advance payment issued on 4 February 1997.

He applied on 14 animals under the June 1996 22 month special beef premium scheme, one of which was ineligible as premium had previously been paid to him on the animal. Five further tags showed as incorrect following validation. Following correspondence with the person named, tag amendments suggested by him were still found incorrect. Arrangements are now being made to make payments in respect of the eight eligible 22 month animals and to pay the balance of 20 per cent on the four eligible ten month animals. The payments should issue within two weeks.

133 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a person (details supplied) in County Cork will receive payment of his slaughter premium. [13896/97]

My Department has no record of having received a slaughter premium application from the herdowner for the calendar years 1996 or 1997.

An application was submitted by the herdowner on 15 August 1996 in respect of five animals under the 1996 BSE compensation scheme for heifer producers. A sales invoice from the abattoir was received on 19 August 1996 but the tagnumbers of the five animals in question were omitted and for that reason payment could not issue by the EU payment deadline of 15 October 1996. A copy of an amended sales invoice from the abattoir was not received until 24 March 1997. Since this invoice is in order, payment will issue from a national fund recently made available to pay residual cases which still had queries outstanding at 15 October 1996.

Payment will issue within the next two weeks.

Ceist:

134 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if an appeal for a person (details supplied) in County Cork has been processed regarding his 22 month premium; and if so when payment will issue. [13897/97]

It is expected that the examination of this appeal will be concluded in the next two weeks. The herdowner will be notified as soon as the matter is concluded.
