219 Mr. Spring asked the Minister for Finance if his attention has been drawn to the urgent necessity to provide finance for drainage improvements in the River Lee catchment area of Tralee to ensure that the community in the Ballyseedy area will not be subject to flooding at regular intervals. Minister of State at the Department of Finance (Mr. Cullen):

The River Lee catchment area is one of a large number of areas identified to my Department as having a requirement for drainage improvements. However, the Office of Public Works has no plans to carry out works in this area in the foreseeable future.
