Ceist:

618 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education the number of consultancy contracts awarded by him or by the Ministers of State at his Department; their value and purpose; the costs in terms of salary or consultancy fees; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15048/97]

Minister for Education (Mr. Martin):

The following contracts have been awarded by my Department since my appointment and the appointments of the Ministers of State:

(1) Consultancy regarding Implementation of the Public Service Management Act, 1997.

Consultants:	The CIRCA Group.
Fee:	£50,820 (including VAT).

(2) Consultancy Study regarding the support of research and related activity in third-level institutions.

Consultants:	The CIRCA Group.
Fee:	£4,750 (including VAT).

In the case of (1) above the tendering process commenced prior to my taking up office.
