The Defence Forces celebrated the anniversary of the taking over of Beggar's Bush Barracks on 1 February 1997. This was the first barracks to be taken over by the Defence Forces. All commands and services commemorated the 75th anniversary of the taking over of the principal barracks in their relevant areas during 1997. There are no plans to hold any further such commemorations this year.
