19 Ms O. Mitchell asked the Minister for Health and Children the preparatory steps, if any, which have been taken to date in the establishment of a national programme of screening for cervical cancer; and when such a programme will be brought into operation. [15784/97]
An expert advisory committee on cervical screening has been appointed to advise on the establishment, implementation and monitoring of the cervical screening programme. In particular the committee will advise and oversee the piloting of the programme. The national programme will be implemented following the evaluation of the pilot programme.
