Ceist:

53 Mr. Stanton asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if she will give details of her responsibilities and those of the Ministers of State attached to her Department in the areas of responsibility of her Departments; and if she will give details of all officials and civil servants employed in her Department and the responsibility and functions of each including remuneration, fees and expenses. As Minister, I have responsibility for all of the functions of my Department. I would point out that the Government has appointed Deputies Tom Kitt and Noel Treacy as Ministers of State at my Department.

The responsibilities within my Department being delegated to the Ministers of State are as follows: Minister of State, Deputy Tom Kitt: employment rights, redundancy and insolvency payments, health and safety, Employment Appeals Tribunal, the Social Affairs Council, the International Labour Organisation, consumer affairs, EU multi-lateral trade and intellectual property.

Minister of State, Deputy Noel Treacy: science and technology, company law, Companies Office, insurance matters, Registry of Friendly Societies and the National Standards Authority of Ireland The staff of the Department are employed in carrying out the various functions assigned to it. Their remuneration and expenses are in accordance with the rates set by the Department of Finance.
