102 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Education and Science if he extended an invitation to a person (details supplied) to visit Ireland and discuss matters relating to information technology on the occasion of his recent visit to Britain and Germany; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I did not extend an invitation of the type mentioned by the Deputy to the person in question. However, officials from my Department have met with representatives of the company concerned on a number of occasions to discuss information technology matters.
The Deputy should note that recent ministerial meetings in the UK were held at the request of the person in question himself.
