150 Mr. Spring asked the Minister for Education and Science if he has responded to an application from a person (details supplied) in County Cork for the waiving of course fees for an evening course in University College Cork. [16773/97]
Due to overall resource constraints I am not in a position to consider the extension of the free fees initiative to cover part-time study. Tax relief is available, at the standard rate, under section 15 of the Finance Act, 1996, for tuition fees paid by eligible students who are attending approved part-time third level courses.
I have now advised the student in question of the position.
