Vol. 481 No. 7

Written Answers. - Garda Stations.

Liam Lawlor

Ceist:

238 Mr. Lawlor asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will give details of the current stage of construction of the designated Garda division headquarters at Blanchardstown, Dublin 15; his views on whether the extension of the original building plans will be sufficient to meet the working and recreational needs of the extra personnel; if the station will be completed in the first half of 1998; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17043/97]

The construction of a new station at Blanchardstown is ongoing. The roof is complete and internal plastering is virtually complete. An extension, which will fully cater for the needs of the increased station party due to the designation of Blanchardstown as a divisional headquarters, is in planning. It is now expected that the station will be complete in the latter half of 1998.
