99 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands the action, if any, she proposes to take regarding property (details supplied) in County Leitrim where her Department gave an undertaking by letter on 18 June 1997, to the sponsors to communicate with them within weeks but nothing further has been heard from her Department. [18336/97]
The property involved is a significant national monument and has been the subject of considerable correspondence with the owner over the last number of years. Any proposals for development have to be examined carefully by the National Monuments and Historic Properties Service (NMHPS) of my Department so that conservation issues involved are adequately addressed and the archaeology of the site resolved. A reply will be issued to the owner within the next few days.
