Vol. 482 No. 5

Written Answers - IDA Ireland.

Austin Deasy

Ceist:

36 Mr. Deasy asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if she has satisfied herself with the manner in which the IDA is structured; the plans, if any, she has to revert the IDA back to its previous structure; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [18309/97]

The administrative and organisational structures of IDA Ireland are primarily matters for that organisation and ones in which I have no direct function.

Given that the Deputy has previously inquired about the structure of IDA Ireland in the South East, and I am assuming that this is his interest in putting down this question, I reassure him that the administrative changes introduced by IDA Ireland in that area continue to work very well to the benefit of the region. Recent job announcements for Waterford attest to that fact.

IDA Ireland keeps under continuous review the way in which its resources are deployed to ensure they yield maximum effectiveness and efficiency in delivering to the whole country its very important mandate of attracting inward investment.
